25/11/2024, 09:00 - 17:00, Essen
The primary goal of this workshop is to facilitate the sustainable networking of international doctoral and postdoctoral researchers focusing on topics related to Gender, Diversity and Queer Studies, and their intersections. The workshop offers a platform for early-career scholars to discuss their current research projects, present (interim) results, and explore potential synergies.
Our premise is that Difference and Diversity Studies do not adhere to a single theoretical approach. Instead, these fields have been mutually enriching each other for years while simultaneously becoming more specialised (e.g., Women’s Studies, Disability Studies, Fat Studies, Queer Studies, Gender Studies, Diversity Studies). Various perspectives on difference and diversity, therefore, give rise to common interests in methodological, theoretical and analytical questions that invite exchange and debate. Consequently, individual projects will be briefly presented at the workshop, where they will be discussed in the forum in the context of their specific approaches and overlapping analytical lenses.
Organisation: Institute for Diversity Studies of TU Dortmund University, in cooperation with the Goethe Society of North America
