Established in 2021 as part of the Research Alliance Ruhr, the College for Social Sciences and Humanities is a joint research institution of the University of Duisburg-Essen, Ruhr University Bochum, and TU Dortmund University. It promotes high-profile research in the social sciences and humanities.
Designed as an Institute for Advanced Study, the College is fundamentally open in regard to disciplines and topics. It provides opportunities to develop and implement innovative research, and pursues the mission of facilitating interdisciplinary dialogue and international collaboration.
The cornerstones of the College are constituted by three high-profile research professorships, interdisciplinary research groups, and a Senior Fellowship Programme, inviting up to 20 distinguished international scholars per year.
